Our History

Diamond Laundry Group began in 1938 as Modern Way Drycleaners in Napier by Dave and Jean Davidson.
In 1945, it was renamed Pacific Drycleaners and eventually became Diamond Dry Cleaners in 1948.

After Dave’s death, his two sons, Bruce and Ian took over with a focus on further building up the business. In 1987, they purchased the Apparelmaster Franchise for Hawke’s Bay to add garment rental and laundry services to their operation.

From 2007 through to current day Diamond has expanded into hospitality linen rental  complementing the existing specialised homestay and premium linen service.

Due to the expansion of the business into Taupo and Wellington, in 2012 a new state of the art factory was built in Whakatu to support the continued growth in the South and Central North Island.

Over the past 10 years Diamond has branched into establishing Liquid Self Service Laundromats.

The Company today has in excess of 100 permanent employees based in Hawke’s Bay, Dannevirke, Wellington and Taupo.
